NATIONAL DISASTER CONSCIOUSNESS MONTH
By: FO1 Joezer L Andrada
On 28 September 2016, in participation to 3rd National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill, personnel of this station together with MDRRMC Dilasag conducted Earthquake and Fire Drill at Diniog National High School.
The activity was a simulation of what students and teachers alike would do during an earthquake and in an event of fire. Participants performed the proper procedure on the said calamities to prevent injuries during a catastrophe. Personnel of this station also demonstrated Fire Fighting Operation utilizing Fire Engine to the students assigned for fire suppression. Discuss the differentiate class of fire which is the light materials and flammable liquids. This serve as a preparation on how to respond to a fire incident and how to sustain the spread of fire, and make the people aware on the situation they are involve in.
At the end of activity, evaluations were conducted by the MDRRMC and this office. One of the main observations is that students seem to take the activity seriously; almost of them are cooperating and participating in their assignment given during the activity. Another noted practice during the activity is that when the students started to evacuate to open ground/ field they follow the proper execution of duck, cover and hold.
The only one malpractice that we observe is the improper suppressing of fire by using the nozzle but at the end of activity they put the fire out and when it’s done you can see to them that they are learned and they enjoy it.
In this activity simplify that everyone is giving importance and make it productive although it is a simultaneous Earthquake and Fire Drill, which is mandated to execute quarterly.
Said activities ended with positive result.
